Book Exhibition: Celebrating National Librarians’ Day (2022-23)
St. Mira’s College Library organised a Book Exhibition on 12th August 2022 to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan - the father of Library Science. This day is celebrated as ‘National Librarians’ Day’ in India. The exhibition was held in the reading hall of the 1st floor library.Principal Incharge-Dr Jaya Rajagopalan inaugurated the exhibition by lighting the lamp and cutting the ribbon. A group of students and staff joined to sing the Saraswati Vandana invoking showers of blessings of Goddess Saraswati.
Students and staff were delighted to see a wide variety of books across different subjects.They perused academic texts, competitive exam books, all-time classics, bestsellers, self-help, and fiction under one roof.Most of the students were seen being attracted to the self-help, biographical and competitive examination sections.To quench the thirst for reading, book lovers were seen buying books from varied genres. Visitors also browsed books from the huge collection in Marathi languagecovering various topics. Pleasant instrumental music was played which energised the whole atmosphere.The exhibition was visited by 223 staff and students of Degree College and 36 visitors from Junior College. The event was organised by Mrs. Devinder Kaur- the Librarian
